Renewable energy sources are defined as follows (Art.2, Legislative Ordinance, n. 387/03):
“non fossil fuel sources (wind, solar, geothermic, wave power, tidal, hydraulic, biomass, exhaust fumes, residue gas and biogas). More specifically, biomass is understood as: the biodegradable part of products, waste and residues coming from agriculture (including vegetable and animal substances) and from forestry and related industries, as well as the biodegradable part of industrial and urban waste materials.
